Nanomagnet Logic


Nanomagnet logic (NML), a nonvolatile digital computational method based on nanoscale magnetic structures, takes a leap forward with innovation from researchers at Notre Dame. Now, with the newly developed Synchronous NML (SNML) method, data may be reliably clocked into logic circuits without the common and troublesome stochastic switching that can cause adjacent cells to miss-record data in conventional NML. The novel SNML design eliminates errors in NML while at the same time increasing throughput by allowing higher data speed and pipelined rates. In the new SNML embodiment, it is now feasible to employ NML for low-power and instant turn-off, turn-on transitions without loss of functionality.
